They have experience across a wide range of topics, audiences and sectors, but they are still just as excited by how they can learn and expand their knowledge from you as you can from them.
The type of work they do is certainly more strategic than tactical. Studies include segmentations, market landscape / market entry studies, identifying new territories and products to drive innovation programmes, brand re-positioning and product / price optimisation. They often get briefs where the ‘problem’ is quite fundamental to the client e.g. this part of the business is failing... what do we do? They therefore work across qual and quant, designing bespoke studies to answer whatever the challenge is. So in qual they do forums, communities, IDIs, regular and creative groups and in quant they cover the full range. Quant is the major focus overall so strong experience in quant is essential; any exposure to qual would be a bonus, also a chance for pure quanties to get some experience in qual that you may not be able to get elsewhere.
They have a strong emphasis on working collaboratively in a pretty flat structure, everyone contributes without the boundaries of levels or structures and the refreshing news is that the hours are reasonable with everyone treated as a grown up.
Your experience can be from a mainstream or specialist agency, ideally covering a variety of sectors and any international experience would be an advantage. This is truly a career defining opportunity where you can finely tune your consultancy skillset and help shape the company’s bright future.
