Professional Membership organisation is seeking to build their research and insights team with a new recruit who will  bring Economic Analysis into the business. Due to rapid growth and continued ambitious plans this new role will be responsible for introducing Economic techniques to increase thought leadership and research activities. You will deliver a programme of research and analysis that will provide evidence for the policy debate.

This will involve developing research projects and economic analysis, identifying and sourcing data, undertaking data collection and providing insights on this data to policy colleagues. This is a new role and the post holder will need to work collaboratively across internal teams and outside partners to ensure the most impactful delivery of insights.

The role requires an understanding of the policy as it works closely with policy managers to identify research requirements and evidence gaps to support policy analysis and development. You will be expected to proactively propose new ideas for consideration/development and identify evidence gaps to support our thought leadership programme, communications strategies and campaigns.

Strong data analysis skills are the backbone of this job, including using econometric techniques and economic theory and so you must demonstrate a strong understanding of data analysis and econometric techniques. You will be responsible for identifying data sources that can meet policy and research requirements. Leading on large-scale analysis of datasets and surveys.

You will be proven and effective at presenting and disseminating data effectively, producing regular insights and products suitable for different user needs and in different formats and providing expert advice with regards to data that forms part of appraisal, impact assessments, evidence based business cases, and evaluation

Candidates can come from agency, consultancy or clientside but some background in public policy, not for profit or government is essential for you to understand the landscape of the business.

Experience of programming languages, such as R, Python, SPSS, Excel and VBA, Gsheets would be needed but this is a start-up role and so you would be able to use the techniques familiar to you. This a not for profit organisation and so the work is pretty hands on, often alongside other not for profit partners so experience in a similar world is highly desirable.


If successful, you will join the Research and Insight Team working alongside two research analysts. The team is a fundamental part of the business, using research, data and insights to raise the voice of our members and mission with the government and the media,  demonstrate the impact of our offer, support our thought leadership and drive business decision making.
