Our client is a Communications agency dedicated to tackling complex behavioural and social issues with hard to reach audiences. Clients include a range of governments, INGO's, foundations and multilaterals, and the research they do has a strong focus on using multimedia campaigns to counter social issues in order to inform and guide these campaigns. This is a successful division of a globally recognised communication business.

They have a strong focus on countering malign influences, including countering violent extremism (CVE), using multimedia messaging campaigns. As a research manager you will provide formative research support and evaluate the progress of the campaigns within a specialist team. In order to effectively manage the assessment of these communication campaigns, you will be responsible for designing and implementing evaluation strategies including both qualitative and quantitative research and using resultant data from digital insights from the messaging that will take place online and via social media.

The Research Manager/Associate Director will be confident in designing assessment frameworks to ensure both the effectiveness of the messaging is assessed, as well as the assessment of the strategy. The focus will be Africa and/or Middle East so experience with these markets is highly desirable.

You will analyse datasets to produce (write) reports which may vary in depth and scope, according to client requirements. Additionally you may be required to present to account managers with quick cuts of data and immediate insights to assist with regular client reporting.

The position will require frequent liaison with research partners and suppliers who perform the primary research on behalf of the organisation. The position will also entail other research tasks as required by the team, including but not limited to open source research, desk reviews, lessons learned/best practice write ups, etc. and the broad management of the research team in your line.

Experience with evaluating behavioural change would be an advantage as would experience of working on projects in developing countries, fragile states and conflict zones. Experience managing research projects from design to report writing and evaluating the impact/effectiveness of multimedia communications activity. You should have strong quantitative analysis skills (with experience using SPSS, R or Stata), although a specialist in qualitative research would also be considered. Good communication skills including experience presenting research findings and explaining technical concepts to multiple stakeholders including non-research literate stakeholders and clients.
